FabFitFun subscription box was interesting to me for a long time. This is a lifestyle subscription, that brings makeup, skincare, apparel, home and fitness products on a quarterly basis. I often see things in this box that I wouldn’t even think to get on my own, so I thought why not try it, and started my subscription with this Fall box.

FabFitFun subscription box sends only full-size items, and there are some slight variations between boxes, but they are not big, and the value is pretty much equal between variations. If you prepay for a full year (4 boxes), you can choose some of the variations, and there are some “choice” items that all subscribers can choose from.

Be careful when subscribing, because often when the seasonal box is sold out they will offer an “Editor’s box”. The first box you’ll be getting is clearly marked in your order summary when you’re subscribing. Editor’s boxes are usually a mix of products from past boxes, and some new ones. They are mostly just as good as regular, seasonal boxes.

The cost: US $49.99 + $8 shipping to Canada (no shipping charge for the US), $179.99 for the year

Ships to: Canada, US

Frequency: Quarterly

Everything comes nicely packed in a big box, with different design every time. This box is shipped in a larger brown box, so it stays pristine, and can be reused for storage.

Now onto the box contents:

Mer-Sea –  Cozy Wrap

Every subscriber received one of these huge blanket scarves, and annual subscribers could choose between the blush, teal and gray scarfwrap. I’m not an annual subscribers, but any color would’ve worked for me, an I’m happy with the gray color I received. This wrap retails for $98 USD. It’s very soft, but sheds, and it’s made of polyester, so I would never pay that price for this scarf, but I’m glad to get it discounted in this box.

Imm Living – Coxet Wire Heart Ceramic Jewelry Holder

This cute jewelry holder has a ceramic base and rose gold copper wire heart insert. It’s small, and the rose gold is so trendy, but unfortunately it’s not for me, since I keep my jewelry in boxes to limit the exposure to air and dust. Luckily, this would make a nice gift, so I will have to find the perfect person for it. The jewelry holder is named after a famous Canadian geometer and retails for $30.5 USD. It’s well constructed and sturdy, and I’m sure a lot of people would love it. Everyone received this product.

Whish Beauty – Renewing Mud Mask

This mask is my favorite discovery in the box. It’s an all-natural exfoliating mud mask, that takes only 30 seconds to 2 minutes to use. Quick and easy! I used it twice already, and love the results. It gives me baby soft skin, and I only need a very thin layer, so it will last for a while. It also has a pump – I’ve never seen this type of packaging. It’s also easier to rinse off than most mud masks. The mask retails for $48 USD! Everyone received this product.

treStique – Matte Color + Shiny Balm Lip Crayon

All subscribers received this lipstick crayon and lip balm in either Tuscan Wine or Florence Fig, and annual subscribers could choose the color they receive. I wish I received the other, more pinkish/nude one, since I’d wear it more often, but I tried this deep red one and I like it. This lippie retails for $28 USD/$40 CAD. The crayon is very pigmented, but the balm is almost completely clear and just adds shine and some moisture.

I’m still looking for a Canadian swap group, if anyone is aware of one please let me know!

Private Party – Gym Bag

FabFitFun boxes always contain at least one fitness item, and this time we all received a gym bag with one of three phrases (annual subscribers could select). I only liked 2 out of 3 sayings, and was lucky enough to avoid the one I didn’t like. Mine says “will workout for cupcakes”, which is really how I do feel all the time. The bag is made of sturdy denim, has an inner and an outer pocket and cylinder shape. If you don’t like carrying a bag with funny saying around, you can always flip it around – the other side is blank. I like the bag, but don’t currently go to a gym, so I’ll need to find another use for it – suggestions are welcome! This bag retails for $59 USD.

Deco Miami – Lavender Cuticle Oil

This cuticle oil comes in the cutest packaging ever, and retails for $12.5 USD (everyone received the same one). It has a nail polish type applicator that is OK for me, but I don’t love it, since I tried cuticle oils with better applicators. It has a lovely lavender scent that is perfect for me, since I always apply cuticle oil before bed, and this true lavender scent is very relaxing. It absorbs in about 20 minutes, and really hydrates my usually quite dry cuticles.

My Tagalongs – Hot & Cold Gel Pack

I consider this as another fitness item in this box, and everyone received one, in different colors and sayings, and nobody could choose the version they received. The pack can be used hot or cold, and it’s safe to chill in the freezer or warm up in hot water or microwave. It can also be put straight from the freezer into microwave, so I keep it in my freezer for now. The pack retails for $15 USD, and I wasn’t really excited about it, but everyone else is, and  now I’m glad to have it around for headaches, bruises etc.

dp Hue – Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse

This is one of the “choice” items in the fall box, and everyone could choose between this hair rinse (retail price $35) or the Molr Dental Club Teeth Whitening Powder and Toothbrush, retail value $43.95. You could also receive both for an additional charge of $10 USD. I was intrigued by both products, but decided to go for the hair rinse. This is an all natural liquid that does smell like vinegar, but less than actual apple cider vinegar, and it’s a bit weird to use, but did leave me with clean, shiny hair the one time I used it. It is also safe for color-treated hair.

The Jetset Diaries – Cable Knit Beanie

The second choice everyone had was between this beanie (retail value $49 USD) or a B-low The Belt Mia Belt (retail value $55). If you chose the beanie, you would get it in either black or dusty rose, and the belt in either black or tan, and you couldn’t choose the color you receive. I don’t wear belts muck, so I went with a beanie, and I am not big on pinks, so I was thrilled when I saw that I received the black beanie. The beanie is made from 100% acrylic, so not itchy like some wool ones might be, but this retail value is really too high for acrylic imho. However, I do like how it looks on with my hair down, and although it’s not crazy warm, it will be perfect for colder fall days.

Cottonelle – FreshCare Flushable Cleansing Cloths

This is a sponsored item, a bonus, and it’s a small pack of wet wipes. Although they are advertised as flushable, please do not flush them. I do love having wet wipes in my purse, and these are the perfect size – I often can’t find small packs in grocery stores, so I’m happy to receive this little pack.

IMG_1320

This was really not a bad first box. I received a variety of items, including makeup, skincare, apparel, fitness and a home item. I don’t love every item included, but most will work for me, and what doesn’t can easily be gifted. I calculated total retail value of the box at $375, which is amazing for $58 USD that I paid for it. For those who chose the belt and tooth whitener the value is even bigger, $390 USD. That being said, I wouldn’t pay retail prices for most of these items, so I’m glad to receive them in this box at such a deep discount. I was mostly lucky with the variations I received, too. Those in the US can find many groups where they can swap items they didn’t like from subscription boxes, making it even less of a risk (I still didn’t find one such group in Canada).

I also really appreciate that shipping to Canada is only $8 USD additionally, and this is a huge box. Some US subscription companies really overcharge for shipping. I also wasn’t charged duties and taxes, and hopefully won’t get charged in the future (fingers crossed).
