Disclaimer: I have purchased the product(s) myself. Read the full disclosure here.
If you don’t know already, Bite Beauty is a Toronto based company that produces hand made lip products that are good enough to eat, formulated with natural and organic ingredients. I’ve tried a number of their products, and liked or loved every one of them. Their Agave lip range started with their, now famous, lip mask, and recently they have expanded the line with new lip masks colors/tastes and added a lip scrub and a lip balm to the range.
This little Agave Kisses Set came out around Christmas, but it sold out on Sephora’s website quite quickly. However, I found it in a store about two months ago, and they had plenty on the shelf, so you may still be able to find it. If not, you can always purchase some or all of these products separately.
The set comes with sample sizes of three products:
- 0.18 oz / 5 g Agave Sugar Lip Scrub
- 0.18 oz / 5 g Agave Lip Mask
- 0.05 oz / 1.3 g Agave Balm
These products contain no parabens, sulfates, phthalates or petrochemicals.
Before I start reviewing the products, I have to express my frustration again for the packaging that Bite Beauty keeps using. The products come in a tin, but the plastic insert is made of sturdy thick plastic that is fitted snugly inside the tin, and although I manage to get it out after some wiggling around, it’s not easy, I always scratch and bend the tin a bit, and have to use thin sharp objects to do this, which may lead to injuries. Considering that everyone would want to reuse such a cute little thin, they should really re-evaluate the type of insert they’re using.
This product is a gentle scrub that cleanses, exfoliates and conditions lips. Unlike any other lip scrub I’ve used, this is a foaming scrub. To use, you apply it over your lips, add water to create foam, then wash off and allow the oils to soak overnight for hydration.
Ingredients: Sucrose*, Squalane*, Glycerin**, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Polyglyceryl-5 Oleate*, Flavor, Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla) Fruit Extract*, Leuconostoc/Sorbus Aucuparia Fruit Ferment Filtrate*, Water*, Bromelain*, Vanilla Tahitensis (Vanilla) Fruit Extract*, Maltodextrin*, Agave Tequilana (Blue Agave) Nectar**, Trans-Resveratrol*, Tocopherol*, Caramel*, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Skin Extract**, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Metabisulfite. *Natural **Organic
I have to admit, the first few times I used the scrub wrong, since I didn’t read the directions. I noticed the scrub was thick and sticks to my lips well, but the sugar amount is low and doesn’t feel as exfoliating as my other scrubs. After checking the product description to see what was I doing wrong, I noticed the part where you add water to create foam. Adding water after applying the scrub melts away the thick syrupy part, revealing more sugar, and the scrub gets a bit more gritty. It still remains gentle, so you can definitely use this scrub more often (I do it every other day). However, after rinsing/wiping the scrub off, I don’t have any oils remaining on my lips, and have to apply a lip balm. If I’m doing something wrong here, too, let me know!
The only thing I didn’t like about this scrub is that there is a little bit of a bitter taste if any of it ends up in my mouth (and that happens almost every time).
Bite Beauty’s new lip balm is formulated to provide on-the-go hydration and to restore and repair lips. It contains rare Madagascan vanilla CO2 extract, and it can act as a primer for any other lip product.
Ingredients: Lanolin* (Pharma Grade), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter**, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil*, Glyceryl Rosinate*, Cera Alba (Beeswax)**, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil**, Stearyl Alcohol*, Hydrated Silica*, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Sterols*, Copernica Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax**, Heptyl Undecylenate*, Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil*, Mica*, Kaolin*, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil Unsaponifiables*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Cera (Wax)*, Hydrogenated Cottonseed Oil*, Flavor (Aroma), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax*, Glycerin**, Tocopherol*, Sorbitan Stearate*, Vanilla Tahitensis (Vanilla) Fruit Extract*, Agave Tequilana (Blue Agave) Nectar**, Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla) Fruit Extract*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil**, Acacia Decurrens Wax*, Polyglycerin-3*, Trans-Resveratrol*, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract**.
This lip balm is much thicker than any other lip balm I’ve used, and it doesn’t glide over my lips easily. However, once applied, I get a really nice smooth feeling on my lips, and don’t need to reapply it as often as I do other lip balms, even after drinking water. There is also no noticeable scent or taste, which I prefer (unlike the lip mask, which is a bit sweet). I don’t love the packaging, though. It has that nice smooth feeling of other Bite Beauty lip products, but it’s completely round all over, and won’t stay put on any smooth surface. It simply rolls away. Due to it’s thickness I also used it up much faster than my other lip balms, this mini lasted only a week. I love the feeling of it and the way it stays on my lips for a while, and I had no chapped or dry lips while using it, but it’s not going to be my favorite lip balm.
Here is a photo to show how big this sample size is (fully extended):

This is my second sample tube of this lip mask, and I have to admit I enjoy using it. It is thick and sticks to my lips well, and if left overnight, it hydrates them well. I especially like using it after a lip scrub, because it feels like it works better after all the dead skin is removed. I’d love to use the mask during the day, too, especially when I feel very dehydrates, but it has a sweet taste, and I don’t like my lip products to taste sweet, because then I lick my lips more. For this reason only I can only use it at night, and other, colored options would not make any sense for me. If you can handle the mask without licking it off, then I think you’d love one of the colors. It seems like that would be a great option to add a touch of color when your lips are too dry for anything else. Overall, I love the mask, but can use it only at night.
I also have to note that the dark gray material started peeling off on my previous tube, and it was really annoying. So far it hasn’t started happening with this one, and I hope it won’t.
As I already mentioned, I managed to find this set in one of the Sephora stores, and I am glad I did, since this way I could sample the two new products before deciding if I like them enough to purchase full sizes. I really like the scrub, love the mask, and I am still not sure about the lip balm. It’s good, but not perfect.
Agave Kisses Set was retailing for $24 and advertised as having a $38 value. I calculated the value of the products to be around $30, so maybe they counted in the tin (the same one they make nearly impossible to reuse). If you can’t find the set, the individual products are sold at Sephora for:
