I’m always very excited to receive a VoxBox from Influenster, probably because of the whole secrecy about the selection process. It just makes me feel so special when I actually do get a box. Influenster loves sending me products from one of my favorite brands, Kat Von D Beauty, and I can’t complain- this is my third Influenster Kat Von D box!
The box came appropriately black, showcasing the new range of Kat Von D Studded Kiss Creme Lipsticks. The inside of the box features a few tags and hashtags to be used in the campaign. It also mentions that the product is vegan and cruelty free, in case you didn’t already know that. Kat Von D is known as a cruelty-free brand.
I received the Studded Kiss Creme Lipstick in the shade OG Lolita (this time around they sent out a number of different shades, but everyone received just one). It’s a gorgeous, dusty rose shade, that looks a bit peachy-pink on me. Such a wearable shade! The full size of this lipstick is 0.12 oz/ 3.4 g, and it comes in the same packaging as the previous version of the Studded Kiss lipstick. It’s a bit bulky, but I like the studded design, and the cap feels very secure.
I tried the previous version of this lipstick, and loved it, but it was quite drying. This creme version is better, less drying, but still not what I expect from a creme lipstick – it’s not as creamy and hydrating as my other lipsticks. However, this one lasts much longer than my other lippies, at least 4-6 hours. The lipstick is very pigmented and still has a matte finish.
The best way to describe this lipstick is this: it’s halfway between a regular lipstick and a matte liquid lipstick. It wears longer than a bullet lipstick, but not even close as long as a liquid matte one. Also, it’s not as drying as a matte liquid lipstick, but not hydrating as some bullet lipsticks are. So, if you love matte lipsticks, you may not love this one, but if you’re like me, need a matte lipstick sometimes, but because of dry lips you can’t wear them much, this is the perfect alternative.
Here is the lipstick swatched. It doesn’t tug when swiped, but I had to do it slowly to get a nice color payoff.
And here is the lipstick on my lips. You can see that the finish is matte, but it shows all my lip lines, so I it’s a bit dry for sure. It doesn’t bleed at all.
Kat Von D Studded Kiss Creme Lipsticks is sold in 40 shades and 3 finishes (one metallic, 4 shimmer, the rest are satin-matte) at Sephora, and retails for $23 CAD/$19 USD.
There is a definite improvement when it comes to this lipstick, and this version is better for me (a.k.a. less drying) than the original one. I love it because it is a good option for a matte finish for my dry lips, but I can see how it won’t be for everyone. There are so many color options, but I wish the finishes varied a bit more. I would also not call this a creme lipstick – it has to be much creamier for that. Somehow I still like it, though.
Did you have a chance to grab one of these lipsticks? What shades attract your attention? Do you think the Studded Kiss Creme lipstick would work for you?
