After taking a break from this box last month, I decided to get the July box, just because they spoiled that there will be a Deepa Gurnani piece of jewelry this month. I am on a serious custom jewelry overload, so I will be skipping the next month (maybe more). I really do enjoy this subscription, though, so you’ll probably see my reviews every now and then, when I decide to treat myself.
Your Bijoux Box is a jewelry subscription box. They send jewelry that is not too dainty, follows trends, and send quality pieces, everything I like and need. Also, they occasionally send Deepa Gurnani pieces, and I really love those. Through this box I also fell in love with House of Harlow jewelry, which fits my style.
They send three pieces of jewelry, but
almost always include something as a bonus. If your ears are not pierced, you can request no earrings when you sign up. Also, you can easily skip a month if you do this before billing, and they email you a few days before the billing. Starting with the May 2017 box, you can update your ring size in your profile (sizes 5-8).
There was a slight price increase in late 2017, from $36 to $39.99 US. All current subscribers could keep the previous price, but since I cancelled my subscription, I am now subscribed under the new price. I could’ve technically just kept skipping every month, since they offer this wonderful option, and I would’ve kept the old price, but I was afraid I would forget it. So, the new price it is!
The cost: US $39.99 + $10 shipping to Canada
Ships to: Canada, US
Good to know: You can skip any month if you do it before billing. You will receive an email to remind you that billing is coming soon.
You can use coupon code WELCOME to receive a bonus piece in your first box. You can see what I received in my first box here. You can also “spin the wheel” (if that is still being offered), to receive various coupons for % off or bonus pieces.
Since the last year they also changed their box, which is bigger than the one from my last 2017 box. The box is branded, and quite sturdy.
Everything is well and nicely packed, and my jewelry always comes in perfect condition. The inside of the cover features a quote (the same one every month, but different one from the last year). I believe they change the quote yearly.
This month instead of their standard thick card I received a folded paper leaflet, with the theme on the front page. July box theme is Sweet Sea Glass!
On the inside there is some information about the pieces in the box, as well as some styling suggestions. The last page suggest sharing the box on social media, and they will pick one person each month to receive an extra piece in their box. They had this share to win offer before, too, but I didn’t often see people win. Also, before if picked you would receive a box of 3-4 pieces, so they really scaled back on the number of pieces. I see that someone actually was picked in June for an extra piece, so hopefully they continue choosing people regularly.
These are all the pieces in the July box. They usually all come in their separate organza drawstring bags, but this year jewelry mostly arrives in Your Bijoux and House of Harlow branded pouches, depending on what they sent.
Playa del Carmen Collar Necklace
This is my favorite piece this month! The necklace is an in-house made piece. It features blue “sea glass” beads, that are actually plastic, a gold sliding chain with blue tassels, gold beads and silver hammered mini discs. I normally don’t mix metals, but in this combination I love the effect. This necklace can dress up a simple outfit, or it can be worn for a summer dinner date. The colors are very summery, and the chain is very easy to adjust. The quality seems very good, too (not all the in-house pieces are this good).
Here is the necklace on. I apologize for the weird angle, but I wanted to show you how the tassels look handing in the back if you choose to wear the necklace short like I did. I really like the color, it’s different and looks great with my hair up. Even my husband loves this necklace.
I couldn’t find these exact earrings online, so I linked to a similar style. Deepa Gurnani is one of my favorite costume jewelry brands, and one of the reasons I subscribed to this jewelry box over all the other ones (and there are many out there). I am always happy to get more of their pieces. These earrings have an off-white color similar to natural pearls, and they are really lightweight and comfortable to wear. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like them, but I think they look interesting and would go well with a nice classy outfit (like a little black dress). I will save them for a dinner date or the next more formal event I attend, like a company Christmas dinner.
Here is how they look on. The earrings are quite long, but I like the color, so they don’t get lost in my long hair.
Playa del Carmen Bolo Necklace
This is another in-house made piece that I received this month. Its a rather simple necklace with three “sea glass” imitation “stones” on a long silver chain. It’s not my favorite, but it’s so simple that I’ll be using it a lot. It is a great necklace to wear when running errands to dress up my simple comfy outfits, but without looking too flashy for places like the grocery store. I wouldn’t say this is a great quality necklace, but it’s OK, and since I generally take good care of my jewelry it should survive for a while. It is prone to tangling a bit (it actually arrived tangled), so I’d make sure you keep it separate from other necklaces.
This is the necklace on the shortest setting, and there are a few centimeters you can add with the included extender.
BONUS: Petite Playa del Carmen Ring Set
As always, we get a bonus, and this month Your Bijoux made these stacking rings with plastic “sea glass” stones that match the bolo necklace. The rings are pretty simple, and the quality is comparable to H&M and Forever21, so not the best. However, they are great to wear somewhere where you may lose them (picnic, hiking, park, pool, etc), since I wouldn’t shed a tear over them. They make an outfit interesting, though, and feel comfortable on my finger. They also didn’t make my finger green, but I only wore them once.
I want to note that although Your Bijoux box has asked the subscribers to add their ring size, all the rings I have received so far were adjustable like the ones in this set.
Here are the rings all stacked together. It’s not a bad look.
This box wasn’t my favorite ever, but I am quite happy. I love the collar necklace and the earrings, while the rings and the bolo necklace are just OK, but I know I’ll still be wearing them (I don’t hate them). It’s nice that they included both gold and silver, so there is something for everyone. For $50 USD (box + shipping) I estimate I received jewelry worth $85 USD, including the bonus item (I estimated the earrings at $45, necklaces at $20 and $15, and the rings at $5, but they may be worth more). This is actually a lower value box for Your Bijoux, but I think I may have underestimated the prices for the in-house made jewelry. Even so, it’s over the cost of the box.
You can order Your Bijoux box using this link (all the links in this review are referral links and give you $5 US off, and me a $5 equivalent in points). This helps me get more boxes for reviews, but if you don’t wish to use my referral, you can google the name of the box.
This box is not available for purchase anymore, and if you order now your first box will be the August box. There are still no spoilers for the August box. You can watch out for some August box spoilers on the Your Bijoux Instagram page.
This box is pricier than some other jewelry subscription boxes, but the jewelry they send is generally of great quality and suits my style, which is why I chose this box over other jewelry subscriptions. I do believe that shipping to Canada is too expensive for such a small box. This is why I am taking a break for a month or two, since it really adds up with our bad conversion rates, and I have more than enough jewelry for now. I wasn’t charged any customs duties yet, and will inform you if it happens with the following boxes.
