I’m always very excited to receive a VoxBox from Influenster, probably because of the whole secrecy about the selection process. It just makes me feel so special when I actually do get a box. Influenster once again sent me a bow with brand new products from one of my favorite brands, Kat Von D Beauty, and I can’t complain- this is my fourth Influenster Kat Von D box! Although I don’t use brow makeup too much, I love having it for special occasions, and it was great to receive it in  VoxBox, because I doubt I would go and buy these products myself, not because I don’t think they’re worth the purchase, but because I don’t use them often enough to justify buying brow products regularly. I do love testing new brow products, so that I know which ones to use for special occasions.

The box came appropriately black, showcasing the range of the new Kat Von D 24-Hour Super Brow Long-Wear Pomade. The inside of the box features a few tags and hashtags to be used in the campaign. It also mentions that the product is vegan and cruelty free, in case you didn’t already know that. Kat Von D is known as a cruelty-free brand.

I received the pomade in the shade Walnut, which is a warm tone dark brown, a great match for my hair and eyebrow color. I could’ve easily used the Dark Brown shade, which is a cool tone dark brown, but it wasn’t offered as an option. I a happy with the shade I received though, because it matches me so well. The pomade has been released in 7 “regular” and 9 “fun” shades. The regular shades range from blonde to black, and the fun ones are…well, fun: white, bleached, yellow, red, blue, green, purple, pink and plum. I think the regular shades have enough variety that almost everyone will be able to find a match, with the exception of redheads – it seems like these is no specific shade to match red hair, and you’ll need to mix a red and a blonde or brown to get a shade that works for you (which is too much work, in my opinion). I am surprised that Kat Von D overlooked this, and considering the number of complaints I am hoping she will add a shade or two for women with red hair.

I love the packaging of this pomade – the tiny jar is made of glass, and the plastic screw-cap has an artistic relief look and feel. It is a product worth of some vanity-space for display.

They weren’t joking when they said this is a long-lasting pomade, there is no fear of smudging or running eyebrows with this product. I only need a tiny bit to do my eyebrows, and the lasting power is amazing. It is also easy to remove in the evening with my regular eye makeup remover (oil-based), with almost no rubbing required.

Here are some swatches of the pomade – you can get it a bit lighter or darker depending on how much product you deposit.

I was very happy to see that Influenster also included the #70 Pomade Brow Brush in this voxbox – I have a thing for brushes 🙂 This one is awesome, too, very precise and allows for thin or thick lines. I love the simple and sleek, famous Kat Von D stiletto design – the handle is long, made of sturdy, shiny black plastic, with synthetic bristles that are just firm enough for control, and flexible enough not to feel rough on my eyebrows. I have used this brush for gel eyeliners, too, and it works great!

I know some people wish there was a spoolie on the other end of the brush, but it would absolutely ruin the esthetics of the design, and I am pretty sure everyone has a spoolie brush these days, considering how popular well-groomed eyebrows are. Also, I don’t like double-ended brushes, because I keep mine in a glass/jar, so this design is perfect for me.

Here is a close-up of the bristles. Their length is perfect for the task, and they are cut at a nice angle for easier application of the pomade.

If bold is what you want for your eyebrows, this pomade is definitely for you. Here is more “natural” look I created with this product – it is much bolder than what I normally go for, and I could very easily make my brows even darker and bolder.

I know a lot of people that support Kat Von D Beauty were waiting for eyebrow products, and I think she delivered beautifully. The new products include brow pencils, powders, pomades and brushes, so there is something in the range for almost everyone.

Kat Von D 24-Hour Super Brow Long-Wear Pomade is sold in 16 shades at Sephora, and retails for $23 CAD/ $19 USD, while the #70 Pomade Brow Brush costs $22 CAD/ $18 USD. I think these prices are great, because the pomade will last a while, since it’s so pigmented, especially if you like a more natural eyebrow look. The brush itself is just so good that I’d pay even more for it.

Did you have a chance to grab one of these new brow products? What shades would work for you? Would you invest in a good brush like this one?
