Disclaimer: I have purchased the product(s) myself. Read the full disclosure here.
Bite Beauty is a Toronto based company that produces hand made lip products that are good enough to eat, formulated with natural and organic ingredients. I’ve tried a number of their products, and liked or loved every one of them. Their Agave lip range started with their, now famous, lip mask, and over time they have expanded the line with new lip masks colors/tastes and added a lip scrub and a lip balm to the range.
Every year they come out with multiple sets for the holiday season, and pretty much every time I buy at least one of the sets. This year I’ve decided to only purchase this lovely lip mask set, that is still available online at Sephora (probably in stores, too), and I am so happy I did. This set will cover my lip mask needs for months!
The set comes with sample sizes (0.18 oz/ 5 g each) of three lip masks:
- Candy Cane (limited edition)
Ingredients: Lanolin*, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil*/**, Aroma (Flavor), Cera Alba (Beeswax)*/**, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil Unsaponifiables*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter*, Glyceryl Rosinate*, Hydrogenated Castor Oil*, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil*/**, Agave Tequilana Leaf Extract*/**, Momordica Grosvenorii Fruit Extract*, Tocopherol*, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract*, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax*, Resveratrol*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*/**, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract*, Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891)*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Red 30 Lake (Ci 73360), Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract*, Blue 1 Lake (Ci 42090), Manganese Violet (Ci 77742), Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract*/**, Vanilla Tahitensis Fruit Extract*, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Skin Extract*, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract*.
These products contain no parabens or sulfates.
The masks are intensive nightly treatments formulated to soothe lips and replenish moisture. They are rich in emollients and improve lips’ texture. I have been using the Agave original mask (natural) for over a year and I really love it, but I’ve never tried any tinted ones, until now. After trying the two tinted ones, too, now I can see that they all have the same texture – the masks are thick, stick to my lips well, and if left overnight, they hydrate them well. They work even better after a lip scrub. They all have a sweet taste, and I normally don’t like to use such lip products during the day, because they make me lick my lips more. However, over time I got used to the taste and now I can use the masks during the day, too, as I would any other lip balm. The difference is that these masks are longer lasting and much more hydrating than most lip balms.
As for the two tinted an flavored masks, there is a slight difference from the original one, but it’s nothing huge. Candy cane has a tiny bit of red pigment, which is barely noticeable on my lips, and just a touch of mint. The minty feeling I get is just perfect, cooling but not too much, and balances the sweetness of the mask nicely. Some lip products are way too minty and cooling, so I really appreciate this. Maple has a distinct maple taste, and barely any color, unless I apply a very thick layer. There is a slight metallic shine to it, but again, very subtle.
I have to admit, what really made me happy is seeing that Bite Beauty finally listened to all the feedback and changed the type of insert they are using in their tins. As you may know from my last year’s review of one of their sets, I was so frustrated with the hard plastic they used to put into these tins, that was cool looking, but very difficult to remove. Considering that most of use would like to reuse the tins they put their products in, I even added a little explanation in this post on how to remove that hard plastic. Well, fret not, this little set came with soft velvety plastic that is easily removable by simply squeezing and pulling it out! Thank you Bite Beauty!
So once you remove the insert you can use the tin to store your lip products, maybe a few candies, or anything else. I use them for buttons, screws, bobby pins, pretty much anything small that needs to be contained!
Agave Treat Trio Lip Mask Set retails for $20 and is advertised as having a $30 value, which is spot on, not including the value of the tin. It’s a great way to try a variety of masks at a discount, and each mini size can last for months. I’ve purchased my set from Sephora’s website, but in the past I’ve been easily finding these sets in their stores, too.
Have you tried any of these masks? How did you like them? Do you have a favorite lip balm or mask to recommend?
