I don’t know about you, but I love trying and using natural products. Naturally, I was very happy when I received an e-mail from Social Nature saying I will be receiving a FULL BOTTLE of Webber Naturals Crystal Clean from the sea Omega-3 fish oil.

In my opinion, food nowadays doesn’t contain as many nutrients as it did decades ago. I was lucky enough to have been raised on home-grown food, fruit, vegetables and fresh milk and milk products, but now it’s getting harder to find good food, with all the GMOs, pesticides and similar. That is why I make sure that everyone in my household takes some sort of supplements – multivitamins, fish oil or something else. The only rule is, we take only one or two supplements at a time, and I always check what is compatible with what.

I’ve received the fish oil from Webber Natural, courtesy of Social Nature, just in time for fall. I always tend to take fish oil, vitamin D capsules and similar supplements when weather starts going gray, so this came at a right moment (as a side note, don’t take vitamin D on sunny day, a good way to go about it is to take it during months that contain letter “R” in their name). Also, I just started studying for an exam, and I need a bit help at my age, so this came just in time to help boost my brain power.

As soon as I received this product, I noticed the bottle. I really appreciate a glass bottle, and this one is darkened to protect the fish oil inside from light. It has a double seal – first a plastic wrap over the cap, and then the cap itself is sealed until the seal is broken by twisting. No air or light affects this while it sits on the shelf!

According to Webber Naturals, this product has been created using the freshest, highest quality fish oil in triglyceride form. Unlike unstable ethyl ester liquid forms of omega-3, liquid triglyceride fish oil has superior stability and is readily absorbed, helping to reduce any potential fishy aftertaste. It delivers 750 mg of EPA and 500 mg of DHA in every teaspoon. Omega-3 essential fatty acids help keep cell membranes flexible and functional, supporting cardiovascular and cognitive health throughout life. DHA is especially important for the development of the eyes, brain, and nerves in children and may support learning ability, cognition and emotional well-being in children and adults. This delicious omega-3 oil is blended with monk fruit (a low-calorie sweetener), and 100% natural, non-GMO flavours. Crystal Clean from the Sea Omega-3 fish oils are certified by International Verified Omega-3 (IVO™) as well as International Fish Oil Standards (IFOS), ensuring the most pure, potent and sustainably harvested omega-3 products available.

I was so skeptical about the smell and taste of the oil. I have tried other fish oils and capsules, and they all had fishy taste or aftertaste. At the first sniff, this oil has no fishy smell! It smells like sweet lemons (hence the “lemon cake” name). You only need to take a teaspoon daily, which is very easy. I tried it straight up, to test the taste claims, and it really didn’t have any fishy taste or aftertaste. It has a slight oily feel, but not too much (not as much as you would feel if you took a teaspoon of olive oil like this). It didn’t leave any oily residue in my mouth.

It has lemon taste, but it’s not sour. It’s also not sweet, so you  can use it in your food. Webber Naturals recommends to add it to salad, smoothie, yogurt or to drizzle on kids bread before spreading with peanut butter. I advise against adding it to salad, because you may not consume it all if it settles on the bottom of your salad bowl, but other recommendations seem good. I think the best way is to take it straight up before a meal, or to add it to food you know you will consume entirely. I don’t think this would change the taste of food much, and I have a feeling it shouldn’t be heated up (don’t use it in cooked food). There are two other tastes available, grapefruit and coconut lime.

I do think it’s a bit expensive at $27.99, but it’s worth it for an all natural product like this. One bottle contains 40 servings, which is good for 40 days. It is great for people that can’t swallow those big fish oil pills. I can’t talk about the effects of omega-3’s yet, but we all know how important it is to have them regularly in our diets, and sometimes that can be easily overlooked. This way you are sure you are taking them regularly!
