Julianne founded Robi skincare as an indie luxury skincare boutique, that produces small batch, handcrafted face and body care products with only ethically made, cruelty-free ingredients and therapeutic grade essential oils. Their products are effective and affordable.
It’s rare for me to check a company’s shop and like every single product there. Robi Skincare doesn’t have a huge selection, but the products available in their shop are simple, ingredients sound fantastic, I can recognize everything, and they just look so cute. I was happy as a child opening a birthday present when I received a box of their products, especially when I started opening everything. I kept the products on my coffee table for a week, opening and sniffing at them and just simply enjoying the view. They simply put a smile on my face.
I’ve received three products for testing, Oil cleanser with rice bran and vitamin E, Face mask with mango, coconut and Australian pink clay, and 100% natural Body butter in White chocolate. I love the simple names that tell you right away what you’re getting!
Robi’s oil cleanser is a gentle and hydrating product tailored for all skin types. It’s supposed to easily remove all makeup, while providing skin with additional nourishment. It’s scented with essential oils that add their own benefits to this beautiful product. Every ingredient is carefully selected, and the cleanser is rich in fatty acids that our skin loves so much.
Ingredients: Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Styrax Benzoin Resin Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Leaf Oil, Juniperus Virginiana (Cedarwood) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil
The cleanser comes in a beautiful frosted glass bottle, equipped with a pump to allow for easier use and no contact with germs. The overall design has clean lines and pastel tones that I usually don’t go for, but like to see with these products. It has a light scent that will not offend even the most sensitive noses. I mostly detect lavender and geranium, but overall the scent is very gentle and just relaxing.
If you are familiar with oil cleansers, then you already know how to use it. If you are new to oils, you’re in for a treat, although they are completely different from other cleanser types. To use this products, dispense 3-5 pumps into your palm and massage over dry skin, makeup and all. You can use it on your eyes, just keep them closed – this may require some practice. Have a warm, damp washcloth ready, and remove the makeup and cleanser by gently wiping it off. The oil will melt down makeup and dirt from your face, while the washcloth removes it all off and adds gentle scrubbing.
PLEASE NOTE: Do not use if you wear semi-permanent false eyelashes.
I always enjoy using oil cleansers, because massaging them over my face feels like I’m in a luxurious spa. The relaxing scent of this cleanser adds to this experience. It’s a rich cleanser, so 3-4 pumps are enough for me if I have a full-face of makeup on. If I wear less makeup, 2-3 pumps are enough. The cleanser easily removes all of my eye, lip and face makeup, while there is some mascara residue left, easily fixed with some micellar water afterwards. I had no problems using the cleanser on my eyes, keeping them closed no product gets in contact with my eyes, so there is no stinging.
The cleanser easily wipes off with a terry cloth, and my skin feels hydrated afterwards, so much that I don’t need to moisturize right away, unless I do a second cleanse. During warm months I usually do a second cleanse to remove any oil residue, but I will probably just stick to this cleanser during following fall and winter seasons, and proceed with my skincare routine, skipping second cleanse. I just like the way my skin feels after using Robi skincare oil cleanser, soft and hydrated, but not greasy.
The Face Mask was developed as a customizable dry formula, and contains ingredients beneficial to every skin type. It’s high in vitamins A & C and beta-carotene and moisturizing and balancing. Dry formula means this mask does not contain any preservatives.
Ingredients: Kaolin, Cocos Nucifera Extract (and) Maltodextrin (and) Sodium Caseinate (Coconut Milk Powder), Mangifera Indica (Mango) Fruit Extract, Michelia Alba Leaf Oil
I really love masks that come in a dry formula. My skin can be moody, and sometimes needs more hydration, sometimes refining, other times I actually need to use oil control masks. This particular mask can be mixed with almost anything you want – water, honey, yogurt, oil, which means I can use it as a base mask and tailor it to my current needs. These are the recommended mixing mediums for different skin types:
- oily/combo skin: water
- very dry/sensitive/mature skin: face oil, oil-based serum, honey, vegetable glycerine
- normal/dry skin: water, yogurt, honey
The mask also comes in a beautiful frosted glass bottle, with a metal cap. It smells so tropical, that it transfers me to a luxurious beach resort spa every time I use it. At least in my mind – a girl can dream 😀 You only need one teaspoon of mask mixed with half a teaspoon of water (or other medium; you might need a bit more than that if you’re using honey honey). Water transforms the mask from gentle pink to a gorgeous deep pinkish red. You only need to keep it on for 10 minutes, and it’s very easy to remove with a washcloth. A word of advice – Australian pink clay stains, so it may be hard to wash it out of your white washcloth (lesson learned). That’s why I prefer to rinse it off, and it’s surprisingly easy to do so, I usually have a harder time rinsing off clay masks.
I find the mask a bit drying when mixed with just water, so it’s definitely great to use for oil control that way. I used it mixed with yogurt and honey, all together, and it was better for my dry skin that way. It actually manages to clear out my pores somewhat with use, while honey and yogurt keep my skin from getting dried out. The mask will be great mixed with facial oils in the winter.
All Robi Skincare body butters are made with only natural ingredients, with no water, preservatives or fillers. They are vegan and made with quality butters and oils, scented with therapeutic grade essential oils. They provide an instant glow and long lasting hydration, and are safe to use even during pregnancy. Body butters are available in 5 scents: Citrus, White Chocolate, Vanilla, Calm and Tropical Paradise. I want them all!
Ingredients (white chocolate version): Butyrospermum Parkii, Theobroma Cacao, Prunus Dulcis, Styrax Benzoin
Only four ingredients, and I can recognize everything without looking it up online!!! Body butters come in glass jars with white metal caps, and the white chocolate one that I tried smells heavenly. It actually smells, looks and feels exactly like white chocolate. It’s a sweet scent, but not overwhelming. I can smell it on my skin, but it’s not sickeningly strong and sweet, but just perfect.
This body butter is very thick, as expected after looking at the ingredients, but it’s not hard to get it out of the jar. It easily melts with body heat, but it’s not one of those body moisturizers that you can just quickly apply and go. Since it’s very rich, if you use too much it tends to get a bit greasy, so it’s best to use small amounts and slowly massage into your skin. Take your time and enjoy the process.
Also, as this is a body butter, it will take longer for it to sink in compared to lotions, so I used it only after evening showers and before bed. That way I can just slow down and enjoy, and my PJ’s get scented with the lovely white chocolate scent. I usually go for lotions in the summer, but my dry skin actually needs more hydration than that, so using this body butter 1-2 times a week really helps to keep my skin moisturized. It will be even better during colder months, when I can use all the butters and oils I can get.
I loved all three product I’ve tried, and actually can’t choose a favorite. They all have wonderful, natural ingredients, perform perfectly and smell AH-mazing. I was actually surprised by low prices, since I’m used to natural, vegan skincare products to be priced much higher. These are all so affordable for what you’re getting.
You can order all these product from Robi Skincare website, and they retail for:
I have to point out that I received the face mask and oil cleanser in their old packaging, that contains 50 ml of each product. The new updated packaging contains 60 ml each, which is even better for you.
Robi Skincare’s wonderful owner Julianne offered a coupon code AMNA5 to my followers for $5 off any order until the end of September. Considering the product prices, this is actually a very generous offer.
