I’m always very excited to receive a VoxBox from Influenster. It may be the fact that I never know when I’ll qualify or what will I get, but the whole secrecy about the selection process just makes me feel so special when I actually do get a box. When the box comes with a product from one of my favorite brands, Kat Von D Beauty, then I get super excited!

This time around the box came appropriately black, showcasing the new range of Kat Von D Everlasting lip liners.

The inside of the box features a few tag and hashtags to be used in the campaign. It also mentions that the product is vegan and cruelty free, in case you didn’t already know that. Kat Von D is known as a cruelty-free brand.

I received the Everlasting lip liner in the cult shade Lolita (everyone received the same shade). It’s a gorgeous, unique, chestnut-rose shade, that looks more or less pink /brown depending on the lighting. The full size of this lip liner is 0.01 oz/ 0.3 g, and it has a twist mechanism. Unlike some other liners I’ve tried, this one twists back down, which I prefer.

It fits right into my mini Kat Von D collection, don’t you think?

The liner is supposed to be waterproof and have a 24-hour, weightless wear. I first swatched it on my hand, and after about 30 minutes did a smudge test. The liner barely smudges a bit, and even smudging it under running water didn’t change that. I was impressed at this point.

I find the liner creamy, it glides nicely on my lips, with no skipping or dragging, but dries fast and gives a matte finish. Also, it is extremely pigmented, and even with a light hand I got full coverage. I don’t have the Lolita lipstick, or any lipstick in this brown pink shade, so I had to try the liner all over my lips. This way I found it VERY long lasting, but it disappeared from the inside of my lips fast. This is OK for me, since this is a lip liner, and I use lip liners to line my lips, not as a lipstick. It lasted through all the drinking and snacking, but oily food does make it go away. I didn’t try it for full 24h, though, nor do I think it would last that long, I have to eat after all, and most of the food I eat has some oil/butter in it.

To test it as a lip liner, I tried it at home with a non-matching liquid lipstick, and it performed great, I didn’t experience any feathering all day. The liner makes getting a nice smooth line around my lips a breeze, which is sometimes hard with liquid lipsticks. Now I really need to purchase the matching lipstick.

The shade is actually a bit darker than it appears in the photo below, because I took the photo in strong natural light. This is a flattering shade and I’d love wearing it for dinner dates.

Since I don’t have a matching lipstick, but loved the color of the lip liner, I tried it with two different lip glosses. Depending on the formula, the liner breaks down or doesn’t.

Here it’s shown with Bareminerals Marvelous Moxie lip gloss in Shining star (mauve). This gloss did break it down, but I love how the gloss made the liner a bit lighter. I wore this combination out one day, and it was a beautiful, flattering day-wear color, and lasted about the same as your regular creamy lipstick.

I also tried the lip liner with the Beautycounter Lip gloss in Fig (reviewed here). This gloss didn’t break down the liner, and the liner was still there once the gloss disappeared. I also love this color combination, it makes for a great dinner date look.

The Kat Von D Everlasting lip liner is sold in 30 shades at Sephora, and retails for $22 CAD/$18 USD (currently sold out online in Canada).

Kat Von D really did a great job here, making the liner smooth and long-wearing. Compared to other liners in that price range, I would definitely go for this one. The color options are great, so it’s easy to find a match for virtually any lipstick, not just the Kat Von D ones.
